First Capital Connect is facing growing pressure from consumers and politicians which has led to Lord Adonis – Secretary of State for Transport, stating that he would not rule out stripping FCC of the Thameslink franchise unless urgent improvements were made. For more information read this BBC article.
The BBC also report that
Normally compensation to passengers would comprise tickets equivalent to five return journeys, but the First Capital Connect
said a “revised and increased” deal would be offered to commuters “in due course”.
The BBC do seem a little misinformed as normal compensation does not normally comprise of 5 return tickets – rather this was promised as a result of the recent disruption. It is ‘nice’ to know we may get more than the lousy 5 return journeys.
Furthermore, Paul Burstow MP has announced on his Twitter page that he has tabled and Early Day Motion (EDM) to strip FCC of the Thameslink franchise. So if you have your local MP’s details ask them to sign EDM 623!

Hi there
The disgracefully bad service which has been disrupting service users’ lives for the last few weeks is completely unacceptable. The latest news on what I have been doing on this issue is here: http://www.streathamlabour.org.uk/2010/01/action-on-thameslink/
I have been in correspondence with the chair of First Group on the issue but, frankly, his reply was unsatisfactory and not terribly enlightening. Consequently myself and neighbouring MP and Minister for London, Tessa Jowell MP, have called an emergency meeting between ourselves and the bosses at FCC to find out what on earth is going on and to put pressure on them to improve the shabby service you have been receiving.
The meeting is taking place in the next few days. If you have any queries or questions you would like me to pose at our meeting with FCC (I already have a list and it is growing), I would be most grateful if you could drop me a tweet or email containing them so I can ensure they are addressed by FCC.
Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Chuka

Please persuade them to make the online Delay Repay facility less obstructive. First one has to register then one finds that the registration is blocked because it will not upload a simple jpg image of a season ticket.
Please also ask them how they intend to compensate season ticket holders. Issuing five day tickets is useless; they should offer a meaningful discount on the next season ticket renewal
