First Capital Connect recently revealed their results for ‘period 10′ which covers 13th December 2009 to 9th January 2010. The FCC press release reveals that in this period just 62.8% of trains ran with less than a five minute delay on the Thameslink route and 11.7% of trains were cancelled for all or part of their journey on all First Capital Connect services combined.
It would be interesting (and quite shocking) to learn the percentage of trains cancelled on the Thameslink route alone as this is likely to be sky high, but unfortunately FCC do not publish this information.
As always, if you have been delayed please claim compensation here for what it is worth.

I looked in one of the websites which says that punctulaity of FCC is 80% during this disruptive period and above 90+% before that. I wonder where this spin comes from ?
Is the fact that Sometimes to make up these figures, FCC management schedule the services to skip intermediate stations included in these figures ?
If Any FirstcapitalConnext Management listening/reading this site :
I challenge you to publish the statistics per station basis(displayed in every station either monthly or weekely) pl.
1. Cumulative delayed Minutes per station
2. % of trains delayed (lets take grace period of 5 mts in defining delays) per station.
3. Cancellations per station
4. Reduced no of carriages per service basis(Thanks to Simon who raised this point).
I am surprised this number is even that high. So far in December and January during my morning commute ALL trains have been consistenly delayed or cancelled. Do you strust these FCC statistics?
Well – you must remember that FCC only classify a train as delayed when it is over 5 minutes late at reaching its destination. Most commuters do not travel to the final destination so this makes these stats less meaningful. Also 5 minutes in most people’s books is a late train, but apparently this is a European standard that FCC use.
Don’t forget FCC’s habit of making trains miss out most of the stations so it eventually ends up on time
I bet cancelled trains are not in these late figures either. There seem to have been a large amount of cancellations over the past weeks. Since going back to work after Xmas I’ve never had a train on time and if you look at their online website for latest train times its hopelessly out of date by the time you walk 5/10 mins to the station. It can’t go on.
FCC IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF THE ABJECT FAILURE OF RAIL PRIVITISATION! THIS FAILED COMPANY IS BEING PROPPED UP BY THE TAX PAYER…….. THIS GOVERNMENT MUST FINE IT OUT OF EXSITENCE AND RENATIONALISE IT AND ALL THE OTHER ROBBER BARONS USELESS, EXPENSIVE PTO’S
This is a joke!
Since I moved to Herne Hill, one month ago, I only got the train on time 3 times!
Even their staff is confused and stopped apologising and even explaining why the delays and cancellations!
And what’s with the announcements at Thameslink station? Are they also employing that as a tool to drive us mad??
Absolutely nightmare!
I can’t understand how travelling by car from Luton to London costs 50% less than FCC train fare! Rail travel is supposed to be cheaper than car – isn’t it?
Myself and Tessa Jowell MP met with the Managing Director of FCC on Friday. Further details are here – http://www.streathamlabour.org.uk/2010/01/jowell-and-umunna-secure-undertakings-from-first-capital-connect-for-local-residents/. The MD of FCC will be attending at Tulse Hill station at our request on Tuesday (2 Feb) between 7.30 and 9.30am to address passenger queries complaints and concerns.
How long can they keep this franchise? …
If this is not a case for FCC to be replaced I dont understand, there must be some impact of the poor way they have managed both the situation with their staff and the very poor way they have communicated to their paying customers.
